Inspiration

Sweet Treats by Melania

Sweet Treats by Melania began when Melania was 10 years old. Melania loves baking and wanted to use her hobby to help others. She makes and decorates sweets for different themes, occasions, and holidays. She sells them all for $1 each to business, schools, and community members. Since starting Sweet Treats by Melania, Melania has donated nearly $15,000 to Children’s Hospital.

Hartt’s Exxon Chili Cookoff

Hartt’s Exxon hosts an annual Chili Cookoff in Venice, LA. At their cookoff, community members create teams and compete to see whose chili will be the best. In addition to enjoying and sampling lots of different chili, cookoff attendees can also participate in a silent auction and raffle. In 2023, Hartt’s Chili Cookoff raised $33,695 that directly impacted the children of Louisiana.

Highway 61 Challenge

The Highway 61 Challenge is a 500-mile, four-day bike challenge along the Historic Blues Highway. Cyclists begin their ride in Memphis, TN, and pass through historic sites, including Vicksburg, MS, and Louisiana’s River Parishes, before concluding their ride in New Orleans. The inaugural Highway 61 Challenge was held in March 2021, where a portion of each registration was donated to Children’s Hospital, totaling $2,500.
